Did you know people have been playing tennis on Southsea Common for around 100 years?
Southsea developed as a seaside suburb of Portsmouth in the early 1800s, with Southsea Common gradually laid out as a public pleasure ground.
Over time, tree-lined avenues, walks, and gardens were added, making it the much-loved green space it is today. Situated in a prime spot on Southsea Common, our club offers easy access to courts, beautiful open spaces, and a vibrant local setting for players to enjoy year-round.
In the 1920s, Portsmouth City Council purchased the Common for public use, and soon after, the tennis courts and bowling green were created — establishing a long tradition of sport and
community right here on the Common.
